FAQ
Come in comfy clothes which I’ll ask you to remove depending on the area(s) included in
your treatment.
Due to the different pressures used in these treatments its best not to combine them. If however, you only have swelling in your arms, and your muscle tension is restricted to your legs, an exception can be made.
The treatment time depends on the areas that need work done as well as the amount of swelling. Post-operative treatment times depend on the procedure you have had. As ageneral rule arms or legs only – 30 min, while full body without face – 60 min, full body with face 75 or 90 min.
Please note that Lymphatic Drainage is usually done as a set of 4 sessions within 10 to 12 days for best results, but it is of course up to you to do a single session. Your body can only process 20-25% of excess water and toxins per session, thus the repetitive process. Once you have reached the desired outcome, a monthly session for maintenance is recommended.
Lymphatic Drainage can reduce the appearance of cellulite, giving you a smoother, slimmer look in the problem area, but does not get rid of it all together.
Nothing stops you from receiving any massage treatment. Please let me know if you don’t feel comfortable, then we can postpone our appointment.
Generally, yes. Please chat to your doctor to confirm. High risk pregnancy and the very early stages of pregnancy are contra indicated as a precaution.
Generally speaking, as soon as you can comfortably tolerate the amount of pressure you’d use to apply body lotion. Your surgeon will be able to advise you.
The quick answer is no. Exceptions are of course if you need help due to a medical condition, it’s a guide / therapy dog, or the client is a child in which case the guardian has to be present.
None of the massage therapy treatments, including Lymphatic Drainage, is supposed to hurt you. If very tight areas are released during deep tissue treatments a slight discomfort may be experienced, never pain. As soon as a client experiences pain the body tenses up and this is counterproductive to the treatment.
You can go back to your normal routine after any of the treatments. If you have the time I always suggest to embrace the relaxed state of mind and take a nap or go for a walk. Treatment specific home care advice will be discussed and sent to you.
